The Challenge: BMI Services, an international insurance underwriter with business focused in Central and South America, needed to streamline documentation for expediency. Agents would send applications to the main office in Miami via courier, which took seven to ten days. The underwriting process then took an additional seven to ten days. The Resolution: ISSDA created an internet database program that allows a BMI agent to enter applications and corresponding information via the web. Once the data is received at the corporate office, underwriting can begin immediately. This allows the agent to print and deliver a client's policy upon issuance. Total turnaround was reduced to five days! Redundant data entry was eliminated (no longer done once by the agent AND by an administrative assistant), and the time frame of paying agent commissions was greatly reduced.
